ZZPeg NLM Demo An eMail Enhancement from Scott Wertz

ZZPeg is a fairly simple program with a fairly simple purpose:
it notifies users when they have mail messages waiting in their
Pegasus mailbox. It's designed so that you can specify how often
you wish to be reminded of waiting mail; the notification interval
can be as long or as short as you like, and is specified in hours,
minutes, and seconds as HH:MM:SS. When that time interval has
elapsed, ZZPeg goes through the entire list of users defined
at this host, and uses Novell's broadcast ("Send") messages to
remind them that they have not read their mail, and then it begins
counting down to the next time interval. If the administrator
has a need to send notifications to users other than the owner
of a mailbox, ZZPeg has an alias feature to do so. This is often
used to notify the network administrator when the mail administrator
has mail waiting. Normally, a typical notification looks like
"You have 4 mail messages waiting"; for aliases the message would
be something like "User SUPERVISOR has 3 mail messages waiting".

  =====================================================================
ZZPeg is intended for those who run Pegasus Mail in its
native mode, meaning that incoming mail messages are stored in
the mailbox subdirectories under SYS:MAIL. If you run Pegasus
Mail in MHS mode, your incoming messages are stored under
\MHS\MAIL\USERS\xxxx directories, and you should try ZZNotify.
ZZNotify does exactly the same thing, but it will work with ANY
     MHS-compatible mail application, including Pegasus.

This is a fully functional demo version of ZZPeg. It will
function exactly like the real thing, but it will only cycle
200 times and then stop. If you set a notification interval
of 30 minutes, then you'll have roughly 4 days to try it out,
or you could set it for every 24 hours and run for months! <g>
You are free to use and distribute this program as long as
you're not making a profit from it.

The registered version costs US $25 per file server by direct
mail, or $35 on Compuserve's GO SWREG area (ID #7185). A single
copy will not run on multiple servers. An order form is included
on the last page of this document.

     INSTALLING ZZPeg
     - - - - - - - - - -
     1) Copy ZZPeg.NLM into your SYS:SYSTEM directory.

     2) Load it at the console screen. ZZPeg requires only
one command-line parameter, and that is the time interval
between notifications, specified as HH:MM:SS, or any shorthand
         equivalent:

         LOAD ZZPeg 24:00:00 = every 24 hours
         LOAD ZZPeg 30:00 = every 30 minutes
         LOAD ZZPeg 30 = every 30 seconds
                                             (NOT recommended!)

     3) To setup up aliases, you must create alias files. For example,
if you want users ADMIN, SUPERVISOR, and FRED to be notified
whenever ADMIN has mail waiting, you would create a file in
ADMIN's mailbox called ALIASES that contains a line for each
alias. In other words, the contents of the file
SYS:MAIL\xxxxx\ALIASES (where xxxxx is the bindery object ID
for user ADMIN) would look like this:

         ADMIN
         SUPERVISOR
         FRED

NOTE: The ALIAS feature can also be useful for users who do
not wish to be bothered with mail reminders. Just create an
ALIAS file that directs their notifications to a nonexistent
         user like NOBODY.
