This README.TXT is a brief guide to installing LANFerret on your
Novell 3.x or 4.x network.

LANFerret allows multiple workstations to access another workstation's
hard drive. This access is a READ-ONLY access.

To install LANFerret on the workstation that has the hard drive to be
shared (the Remote Workstation), place the distribution diskette in the
floppy drive and copy the LANFERET.COM program to the hard drive. Then
include the following line in the workstation's AUTOEXEC.BAT:

LANFERET /D:x (where x is the hard drive letter that is to
                       be shared across the network).

To install the LANFerret software on each workstation that is to access
the Remote Workstation, place the distribution diskette in the floppy drive,
log onto that floppy drive and run INSTALL [source]: [dest]:.

EXAMPLE: If the floppy drive was "A" and the destination
drive was "C" then you would type:

                            A:INSTALL A: C:

This installation program installs the necessary software onto the hard
drive. At this point, edit the CONFIG.SYS file to add the following line:

       DEVICE = LFDRV.SYS

Reboot the machine. Watch as the device drivers load. The LANFeret driver
will load and give you the drive letter assigned to the LANFeret drive.

Next, run the LF.EXE program as follows:

       LF STATUS

This command will list all of the nodes on the network, plus mark which
workstation is running as a LANFeret Remote Workstation. Once you have
determined which Remote Workstation that you wish to attach to, run LF.EXE
once again as follows:

LF ATTACH [username] where [username] is the users name of
the Remote Workstation you wish to attach
                                to.

That's it. Go to the drive letter that LANFerret designated and do a
directory. You should see the directory of the Remote Workstation's
hard drive.

Since the Remote Workstation's drive appears to you as a normal DOS drive,
you can to anything to that drive, except write (copy) files to it. This
particular function is not enabled due to potential abuse problems.

You can run programs from this drive, retrieve data, use Windows or any
other program with this drive.
