To users of NSM,

I have tested this product in a Novell 2.15 environment and have discovered
no problems with either the file server, network, or my workstation (including
the performance of my other windows applications.) However, It seems that
every product that I download or buy has some sort of disclaimer on it. So
I figure I had better put one on this product too...

Netware System Monitor (NSM) is an unobtrusive tool to help identify
problems your users may be having before you get a phone call.
NSM Version 0.7 monitors four primary areas of Netware: Server Utilization,
Volume Space, the Print Queues, and User Disk Space. If a threshold is
exceeded, then NSM beeps and the event is noted in NSM's main window.

NSM requires the Netware DLL "NWNETAPI.DLL" which you may have (look in
your MS Windows subdirectory) or can be found in the NOVFILES forum on
CompuServe in the file WINUP7.ZIP.

NSM is not time critical and yields control to your other windows
applications. So you should see little if any impact on your regular work.

NOTE : To get the information needed to check each of these 'monitored' areas,
you must have the appropriate console rights.

                        User Defined Thresholds

The following is a crude list and description of the thresholds and variables
that can be adjusted for your particular network. The 4 sections correspond
to the 4 areas that NSM monitors: Server Utilization, Volume Disk Space,
Print Queues and Jobs, and User Disk Space. All 4 area can be individually
set in two primary areas: 1) The interval at which the area is monitored.
2) The threshold at which an event is reported.

Control.Preferences.Server Utilization...
NSM will check the Server Utilization at user defined intervals and display
the utilization when NSM is an icon. Also if a threshold is crossed, NSM
will beep and note the event in NSM's main window.
[fields]
Update Every x Seconds - NSM checks the server utilization every x seconds.
Report at y% - NSM will report an event at y percent utilization.
Change Colour at z% - When iconic, the icon will change colour at z percent.

NOTE: Server utilization can only be monitored on Netware 2.x. Starting
with version 3.x the file server will no longer tell a workstation certain
information about the server. Server utilization is one of these 'no longer
available' items.

Control.Preferences.Volume Disk Space...
NSM will check the available disk space on each volume and if a threshold is
exceded NSM will beep and report the event in NSM's main window.
[fields]
Update Every x Seconds - NSM checks each volume every x seconds.
Report at yM space left - NSM will report an event if a volume has less
                          than y meg left.
Report at z dirs left - NSM will report an event if a volume has less than
                          z directories entries available.

Control.Preferences.Print Queues and Jobs...
NSM will check each print queue for the number of jobs and then check the
amount of time each job has been in the print queue and if a threshold is
exceded NSM will beep and report the event in NSM's main window.
[fields]
Update Every x Seconds - NSM checks each print queue every x seconds.
Report at y jobs in queue - NSM will report an event if a print queue has
more than y jobs in it.
Report after z1 seconds - NSM will report an event if a print job has been
in a queue longer than z1 seconds.
Beep after z2 seconds - NSM will beep if a print job has been in a queue
                              longer than z2 seconds.

Control.Preferences.User Disk Space...
NSM will check each users disk space and if a threshold is exceded NSM will
beep and report the event in NSM's main window. Once a user's disk space
fall below the threshold, NSM will keep track of that user's disk space and
only report again if the users disk space changes and is still below the
threshold.
[fields]
Update Every x Seconds - NSM checks each users disk space every x seconds.
Report at yk space left - NSM will report an event if a user has less than
                          y kilobytes left.

Note : NSM will not check any area with a zero value in the "Update every x
Seconds" field.
